Why reviews are moderated
Every review on Tested.gg goes through a moderation process. This keeps the platform useful for people making real-money decisions. Fake, spammy, or abusive reviews undermine trust for everyone.
Automated checks
When you submit a review, several automated systems evaluate it before it reaches the site:
| Check | What it looks for |
|---|---|
| Spam detection | Repetitive text, keyword stuffing, promotional links |
| Sentiment mismatch | Star rating contradicts written text (e.g., 5-star with negative language) |
| Rate limiting | More than 3 reviews per day from a single account |
| Minimum length | Reviews under 50 characters are rejected |
| Profanity flagging | Slurs or hate speech held for manual review |
These checks run instantly. Most legitimate reviews pass all of them without delay.
New user moderation queue
If your account has new trust level, every review you submit enters a manual moderation queue. A moderator reads the review and either approves or rejects it. This step exists because new accounts are the most common source of fake or incentivized reviews.
You move past new status once you have 3 or more approved reviews and your account is at least 7 days old. After that, you reach regular trust level.
Trusted user auto-approval
Users with trusted trust level bypass the moderation queue entirely. Their reviews appear on the site immediately after passing automated checks. You reach trusted status with 10 or more approved reviews and 50 or more helpful votes from other users.
What happens when a review is flagged
A flagged review is placed on hold and does not appear on the site page. A moderator examines the content and makes one of three decisions:
- Approve - the review goes live.
- Request edit - you receive a notification asking you to revise the review. Once updated, it re-enters the queue.
- Reject - the review is permanently removed. You receive a reason for the rejection.
Repeated rejections may result in your account being restricted from submitting further reviews.
Reporting a review
Reviews that appear fake, abusive, or irrelevant can be reported through the review card. Reports are anonymous and go directly to the moderation queue.
